Snorkelling Off Lovers Cove

We found that snorkeling is the best way to get amongst the underwater life on the island, and there’s no better place to explore than Lovers Cove. It was amazing to be able to swim in turquoise water with hundreds of fish swimming around you.

Great Food Variety

During the day we relaxed with a beautiful cocktail by the pool/beach.

The island has romantic surroundings such as the beautiful flaming torches lined up along the beach outside Mermaids Restaurant. If dining at The Fish Bowl, you’re welcome to take a romantic stroll to the other side of the island or the staff will pick you up in a golf buggy.

Ocean Rafting to Whitehaven Beach

Our day commenced at 10.00AM. Picked up by the Ocean Rafting crew, greeted by all the other passengers and off we went headed for snorkelling off Maureens Cove. We spent 40 minutes in the water where we saw beautiful, unique coral and fish species. We were offered wet suits, snorkelling equipment, flippers and a foam noodle or wetsuit to help us float.

As we arrived at Mantaray Bay the crew informed us that it would be terrible visibility to snorkel here today as the current was heading towards the ocean. The skipper took us too another spot about 5 minutes boat ride from Mantaray Bay on the Eastern side of Hook Island.

Visibility was pristine; the water was clear and warm. As soon as we jumped off the boat we were stunned by a calm sea turtle, which decided to swim past us. We begun to dive down too see the marine life and coral. Everyone took his or her photos, explored for another 45 minutes and then we were set for Whitehaven Beach.

1174701_710490582298339_2021290674_nAs a group we walked for a couple of minutes before we hit the magnificent Hill Inlet of Whitehaven. It was beautiful; no pictures could do it justice. Whitehaven beach is known for its white sand as the sand consists of 98% pure silica. It was beyond amazing to walk on, no hot burning feet!

We could see our boat in the distance that was holding our delicious buffet lunch aboard. Our tour guide lead us into ‘Stingray Bay’, we walked through 10 – 30 stingray. We didn’t bother them at all.

After sitting down and eating our lunch, we went for swim before heading back to Daydream Island. We arrived back at the Island at 4.00 PM. This was definitely one of my personal highlights of my trip to the Whitsundays.

Truth is, this holiday has definitely given me the ‘travel bug’.

So no matter what beach activity you are looking for, this island will have it for you!
