Grand Canyon, Arizona

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOne of the Seven Wonder of the Natural World, here is something for the Bucket List!!

The world is an amazing place and it has some pretty breathtaking views.
But there is nothing quite like the Grand Canyon!

You grow up hearing about this amazing place. You hear that it is huge, you hear that it is mind boggling, but we can assure you… This is a sight you have to see to believe it.

You know it is going to be huge, yet once you lay eyes on it, you will still honestly be amazed!

The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,000 feet or 1,800 meters). Yeah, that is crazy huge!

The Grand Canyon is pretty deserted…well it is somewhat in the Arizona desert…
But remember that it is a tourist destination. There is plenty of food huts and gift shops available (there is even a McDonalds on the way in). So do not panic about packing excess water and food.

Now, although this place is amazing, people need to be careful!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAPeople run around the pathways where there are no fences and jump down off rocks beside cliffs. What people need to realise is, they are not invisible! If you fall, you die. Or become a vegetable…

247 people on average get rescued (alive) from the Grand Canyon). This demonstrates that people really need to keep in mind how careful they have to be.
Although it is only usual that one person on average falls to their death a year, you do not want to be a statistic. Is getting a cool photo on a tiny ledge really worth your life?

Now before you start getting scared about going at all, there are plenty of places for you to go. The Grand Canyon is surrounded by places with fences and walkways. There are so many walks, hikes and things to do 100% safely. It is people’s choice to go out on the cliffs and the walkways with no railings, do not fear!!

So even though this is a sight you need to see, keep your wits about you!!!
