Collecting “Something” Along The Way

8 Jul

Get a “Something” every place you visit.

Because adventures don’t always have to be action packed and dangerous.

In a day and age where we are constantly snapping pictures, we need to remember there are other ways to create memories (not that we don’t love photos!). Collecting things is an amazing way to create memories.

In a generation where taking photos is such a fore focus on our minds, generations before us have commented…as they always do. But this time they have a point.

Is our generation so worried about capturing the moment, that they actually miss the moment?

Sometimes we are so worried with getting the perfect photo, or a photo to document ever step of a journey, that we miss making the memory.

So we are here to challenge you.
Pick a souvenir that you like and buy it everywhere you visit. Whether they are postcards, key rings, erasers, pencils, pens, stickers, bags, hats, shirts….whatever you like, and make it your mission to buy one every where you go. Not that you have to stick to the same item everywhere if you don’t want.

Not only will you be able to look back at it later on in life and remember where you have been, but you may be able to make memories trying to buy it trying to find the item or even the store to buy it in. And it is a cheap something, that you will be able to have other than photos.

I love this idea! I’m such a photo person that sometimes I have to remind myself to not spend too much time behind the lens. I’ve heard that antique spoons are actually a fun thing to collect from each place (who knew?)

I have actually recently bought two spoons from places! They are definitely becoming something more popular to find. And they are so cute!

I did this – I bought a keyring (or two) at every country I went to on my Europe trip (except for Austria – but we did have a lovely day wandering around town trying to find an open souvenir shop). I bought heaps of other things as well but that was my ‘something’ to find in each place. Not to mention I also took thousands of photos too 😉
